The Turner
Post Office was first established on Upper Street, in 1804. Ichabod
Bonney was the postmaster, and the mail carriers were Josiah Smith
and William Sawin. Mail came by horseback once a week.
15-20 years later the post office was relocated in the village.
In 1831 a post office was built in East Turner, in what is now known
as the A.C. Gilbert Place. The postmaster was E. Martin.
