SPECIAL BOARD OF SELECTMEN MEETING

WEDNESDAY JANUARY 16, 2008 6:45 PM

1. CALL TO ORDER AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG: Chairman House called the meeting to order at 6:45 pm and the Pledge of Allegiance was said. Those present were Mr. Angelo Terreri, Mr. Kurt Youland, Mrs. Jody Goodwin, Mrs. Joan Bryant-Deschenes, Town Manager Eva Leavitt, Bookkeeper Nikki Verrill and Mr. Sherman Small of New England Forestry Consultants, Inc.

2. AWARD OF BID FOR TIMBER HARVEST: Mr. Small presented to two bids as received: Thomas N Richards & Son's bid was for $17,296.58 and Day Bros., Inc bid was for $15,362.72 - see attached breakdown. Mr. Small noted for those present that all volume amounts are estimates only and that the mill scale slips will determine the actual volume. It was noted that there is a price difference of $2,000. Mr. Youland & Mr. Terreri expressed their desire to have the treetops chipped; however the bid from Thomas N Richards & Sons did not include chipping the tops. Mr. Youland then questioned if the lot is ready to be cut or if it should wait for a couple more years? Mrs. Goodwin questioned the issue of fire safety and Mr. Small noted that the brush would be cut down. Following this discussion Mr. Youland made a motion to award the bid to Thomas N Richards & Son for $17,296.58 and Mrs. Bryant-Deschenes made a second to the motion; and the vote was unanimous.

3. ORDER 2008 - 7 LIMITING HEAVY LOADS: Mrs. Leavitt presented Order 2008 - 7 (An Order Limiting Heavy Loads), which will enable her to post Town Roads as deemed necessary. Mrs. Bryant-Deschenes made a motion to approve Order 2008 - 7 as presented and Mrs. Goodwin made a second to the motion; and the vote was unanimous.

4. ADJOURNMENT: Mrs. Goodwin made a motion to adjourn at 7:00 pm and Mr. Youland made a second to the motion; and the vote was unanimous.
