Employment Opportunity – Fire Chief

The Town of Turner Board of Selectmen is now accepting applications for the position of Fire Chief.  The individual selected for this position will oversee a department of roughly 30 volunteers and 1.5 full-time-equivalent employees and is expected to work closely and cooperatively with the town’s Rescue Department, mutual aid departments and others.  The successful applicant will be an experienced firefighter, either professional or volunteer, with a strong aptitude for leadership, training, safety, developing and following a budget, community service, vehicle operation and maintenance, and working well with elected and appointed officials.   Emergency medical certification is a plus.  The chief conducts regular meetings and training events with the department, reports monthly to the Board of Selectmen and will also work closely with the Town Manager.  Department assets include an engine, rescue truck, tanker, and mini pumper/brush truck.  This position is compensated by a stipend plus call pay, and the Chief may also serve as a per-diem firefighter, depending on availability.  Interested individuals shall submit a completed employment application along with copies of relevant training certifications to the Town Manager, no later than 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 18.  The Town of Turner is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
